The iconic Disney World is transforming once again! Imagine a breathtaking new lodge, a stone's throw from the enchanting Fort Wilderness Resort, rising from the remnants of River Country and gazing across the waters at the mysterious Discovery Island.
But wait, there's more! The latest construction update reveals that the cabins and overhangs of the Lakeshore Lodge are now crowned with roofs, marking a significant milestone in its development. This lodge, a Disney Vacation Club resort, is set to open its doors in 2027, offering guests a unique experience inspired by nature's grandeur and its timeless impact on Disney artists.
Our recent ground-level inspection revealed exciting progress. The A-frame cabins along Clementine Beach are rapidly taking shape, with crews tirelessly working to add more framing. The distinctive overhangs, mirroring the porte cochere structure, now boast sturdy roofs, a significant upgrade from their former skeletal state.
And this is where it gets intriguing. The resort wing, visible from the Fort Wilderness arcade and Pioneer Hall, is evolving daily. Sheathing, overhang frames, and roofing are all coming together, creating a sense of completion. The A-frame cabins nearest the main lodge are now fully roofed, showcasing glass windows that promise stunning views.
But that's not all. The wing visible from Fort Wilderness has undergone a remarkable transformation, with balconies and windows installed and overhangs now sheltered by roofs. The concrete work on this wing is nearly complete, leaving a solid impression.
The entrance porte cochere, with its angular design, continues to be reinforced with concrete, ensuring a grand and functional welcome for guests. Scaffolding hints at a corner tower, visible from Pioneer Hall, with a substantial roof overhang. This area is being fitted with stairways, adding to the anticipation of what's to come.
The Clementine Beach cabins are also progressing, with more wood and steel framework in place, indicating that roofing is imminent. Meanwhile, the lakeside wing remains shrouded in scaffolding, a familiar sight from our previous update, where a barge with a crane was once parked.
A wider perspective reveals the cabin frames in relation to the main lodge, providing a sense of scale. The Bay Lake barge, previously supporting a crane near an unfinished dock, has been repositioned towards the building's center, now equipped with a cherry picker.
This central area may very well become a patio for a restaurant or lounge, offering guests a relaxing space. Additionally, the tiered overhangs on the roof could potentially house a restaurant or lounge with panoramic views of Bay Lake, creating a truly memorable dining experience.
The A-frame cabins, symmetrically positioned on either side of the main resort, have been enhanced with additional supports and wood details over the past few weeks. Finally, these cabins have received their roofs, completing their distinctive appearance.
With an estimated 20 cabins throughout the resort, the Lakeshore Lodge promises an intimate and captivating experience. The lakeside wing is being readied for concrete sheathing, and almost all balconies and windows are in place, bringing the lodge closer to its final form.
